Every good day begins with a hearty nutritious breakfast. Jerry Jeffries, AKA Blade man, AKA Marketing genius and consultant, takes me to the local diner where we overhear the local gossip and joking around. We of course are strangers in town, but nobody seems to mind. Gouverneur NY strikes me as a friendly little town, close to Syracuse & close to Rochester.

We arrive early and I am impressed by the shear size of this outfit, then I find out it has been operating business for about 100 years, and been passed down as a place trusted in the community, first as a tractor dealership back in the cowboy days, to a fun place to buy boats, quads, sleds, and all kinds of powersports toys.

We come in through a back door, and I am greeted by this dummy on a sweet new Yamaha, two tone beauty. I want it. I look around and I see creative displays everywhere, but we are a little early, and there's no one around yet. I find that someone has already put the coffee on, so I grab some. Jerry has found a lap top and is already hard at work, or at least it looks impressive. He's being paid by the hour and wants to look busy! (just joking Jer!)

I try to stay out of Jerry's way, and run around taking photos like I was Japanese. There is so much to see, so much to desire! I want it all.

I have yet to see such a well presented assortment of Arctic Cat accessories. It's really impressive to see the items in person, not just in an online magazine.. There are Arctic cat gloves, slippers, windscreens, decals, jackets and more. There are gift items I have never seen before or even imagined.

Nesco carries the latest Arctic Cat snowmobile models; I think Arctic Cat has created the wildest most beautiful sled designs, and I especially appreciate their decal designs.

In this end of the building, Nesco has all the clothing and apparel for Arctic Cat all terrain vehicles. The selection blew me away. Boots, sweaters, jackets, rain gear, & gloves of all descriptions.

 

This is Rusty, the new service manager at Nesco, formerly the marine tech. Here he is servicing the engine on one of the hundreds of pontoon boats that they have sold. This summer has been especially good for boat sales.

Smile boys! Truth is, when I visit some dealerships in my travels, the sales guys can be frightening. Here at Nesco, the guys were warm and fuzzy.. They were all in touch with their feminine side... (not that there's anything wrong with that!) HAHAHHA! (Now I'm dead for sure the next time I go back).

 

The sales guys here will hand you a coffee and a bag of popcorn, and tell you to feel right at home. It is possibly the most laid back place I have ever seen, in terms of a dealership. Here is Jeff chatting with a client.

 

Everyone has his job, and is proud of his own specialty. The joking around behind the scenes keeps things light. These two were hamming it up for the camera.

 

Joe does just about anything in the shop. Here he is reupholstering a motorcycle seat. He looks like he knows what he's doing too!

 

Jessie's job is to assembles brand new STAR Motorcycles
all day long, and he loves his job. I can see why.

 

"The name of the game here, is attention to detail. If I forget one screw or one bolt, it could be a disaster. I love this work!" says Jessie.

 

I head back into the main show room, and keep shooting. At every turn there is more cool stuff. Here's a couple of kids quads on display, a Yamaha Raptor 50, and an 80.

And in another aisle, I discover the Yamaha scooters.

 

I'd like to test drive one of the bigger 'scooters'. It's a Majesty 400 four stroke. You will need your motorcycle license to operate this baby.. it'll do 95 mph! It's hardly a scooter at this size.

 

Meanwhile, I catch Jerry.. 'Consulting' again with Scott the shop foreman ! I'd like to be a powersports retail consultant too.. It looks like fun!

A guy could get way laid in this store easily. I recommend you only visit with your wife, otherwise you may be looking at a divorce when you get home with a new quad, a new boat, a sled, a dirt bike, and a Yamaha road bike! Could be trouble here.. But what fun too!

As for me, I was itchin' to get out and try one of these Yamaha STAR motorcycles. The boys recommended I try out the Warrior. They suited me up in a new helmet and leather jacket, made me sign a waiver, then sent me out to blast down the highway.. And blast I did!

 

I rode this low slung monster over to Mark and Lori's home, where I met with Lori, and talked with her about her web sites.

Lori has a natural ability for creating a positive 'web-shopping' experience. She creates the company's web sites that make it easy to buy Arctic Cat accessories on line, or parts for that matter. Lori is very knowledgeable, and can help you find what you need.

I get the impression, that Lori is the 'heart' in this whole NESCO operation. She works at home sometimes to avoid the interruptions of the busy office at the shop. Here Lori can answer your phone calls, and help you with your orders.

I get the feeling Lori is the glue that helps to keep this outfit together.. Just my observation. Lori is alot like me, she LOVES the Internet, and spends far too many hours sitting in front of the screen working

.Aside from her work at Nesco, Lori also 'manages' a couple of kids (two girls right?). Only another mom would understand the amount of effort that requires.

 

I rode that Warrior monster powerhouse, back to the dealership. I only got lost twice. The sun was starting to set, but the work continued inside like a bee hive. Man, this Nesco Store is a busy place.

 

I thanked Mark for a fabulous day.. Especially for the killer ride on the Warrior! (100 mph, and there was so much throttle left I couldn't believe it, but I didn't want to go to jail in New York State.) A jail house segment would have improved this page, but not my sparkling reputation.

 

I was ready to roll, but Jerry had one final head to head discussion with the gang in the office. Running an outfit of this size is no picnic, it require work and organization. Having group meetings with open and frank dialogue is a powerful way to keep the big wheels rolling in any business.
